Hi Joe,
Thanks for your question.
The last known figures report that NAVCA will reduce its staffing from 38 to 20, with an income cut of almost 50%, from £3 million in 2010 to £1.5 million in 2011. A significant reduction both in people and funds as I'm sure you'll agree. NAVCA are putting a positive spin on the situation with chief exec Kevin Curley admitting "Navca in 2011 will be a smaller charity, but will remain a strong advocate for local voluntary action."
(Source: Third Sector).
An indictment on the state of the sector, coupled with the recent changes at NCVO, proving that it's not just small local organisations who are affected by budget cuts.
Hope this answers your question,
Ciara

Whilst welcome, I very much doubt that £50k would assist many of these charities that have, by all accounts, lost £millions.
I do wish she would ask organisations directly about these things and not rely on an LA to put forward the views of communities. Quite frankly I don't feel that LA's are in a position to speak for communities even though they are elected to represent them. Unfortunately their vision is so restricted due to financial implications and local politics that they can no longer put residents views forward to Government.
